Home of the Timberwolves
Welcome to Tallwood ElementarySchool. Home of the "Timberwovles"! Tallwood is located in the Kempsville section of Virginia Beach. Tallwood opened its doors on September 5, 1989. Tallwood serves approximately 800 students from the subdivisions of Brandon and Alexandria, as well as Regent University Student Housing. Our principal is Thomas H. Chowns, III. Our assistant principal is Veta B. Faison. Our school mascot is the timberwolf, affectionately called "Timmy". Our school motto is:"Hungry to Learn". Our school colors are Maroon and White. Every Friday is School Spirit Day in which everyone wears Tallwood attire. Our Official School Song is entitled "Onward, Tallwood".

Tallwood Elementary School received its name from nearby property named "Tallwood".

Our students are routinely recognized through numerous programs such asPrincipal's List, Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Super Citizens, and B.U.G. Roll. These students receive awards and are honored at receptions with the support and help of our Partners In Education.

Student Activities include such programs as Chorus, Strings, and Computer Club. In the spring, the PTA provides Instructional Programs After School (IPAS), offering classes in computers, foreign languages, and arts and crafts.

Tallwood Elementary School is excited about our association with our sister school, Minami Miyazaki Elementary School in Miyazaki, Japan. Tallwood students maintain correspondence with the students at Miyazaki Elementary School.

Come visit our school and you can see for yourself that Tallwood Timberwolves are "Hungry to Learn"!
