Tallwood Elementary School, Virginia Beach, VA

The use of technology by students and teachers is a priority at Tallwood. We provide on-going staff training for technology integration in the Computer lab and in the classroom.

Every classrooom at Tallwood is equipped with at least one Compaq IBM-compatible computer. In addition, our Computer Resource Center (CRC) has 29 student stations and well as a teacher statinon and a multimedia projection station. Each Compaq computer is equipped with Internet access through the school's network. Every class from Grades K-4 has a scheduled biweekly 40-minute lab time. Fifth graders visit the CRC for a 40 minutes lesson on a weekly basis. Teachers may also sign their classes up for additional "OPEN" lab times.

Teachers in grades K-5 continually integrate the use of technology with their core subject area curicula. The continuous enhancement and improvement of technology skills is an on-going process that we pursue in order to ensure that Tallwood students and teachers are proficient in the area of technology.
