Reading Resource Program is an important part of the Langugae Arts Program at Tallwood. Guided reading is a major focus of the program and a large amount of time and attention is given to it. The Reading Resource Specialist (RRS) works with students to build reading strategies so the each child can become a successful reader. The RRS also meets with small groups of students for 30 minute time periods. In these small groups, specific grade level SOLs are reinforced.![]()

At the request of teachers and/or parents, the Reading Specialist will give informal reading tests to students. These tests help determine a student's current reading level and provide information to parents and teachers regarding the student's language arts strengths and weaknesses.
