VIRGINIA - A Place To See

The state of Virginia has wonderful variety. It is divided into 5 natural regions, each having its own distinct features. The landform varies from a coastal plain, rolling hills, and rounded mountains, to broad valleys. It has many rivers, swamps, small waterfalls, and fast-running streams. There are miles of coastlines with fine natural harbors. Virginia has many farms, both large and small, as well as many green forests.

Virginia has many treasured places that give a glimpse of our country's history. Our state's past can be traced from the early existence of the Native American, to the arrival of arrival Europeans as well as African slaves, to our present democratic form of government. Virginia is nicknamed "Mother of Presidents" and was a vital part of the Civil War.

With it's breadth of geographical and historical appeal, it is not surprising that many tourists come to Virginia every year.
