The use of technology by students and teachers is a priority at Tallwood. We provide on-going staff training for technology integration in the computer lab (CRC) and in the classroom.
Every homeroom classrooom at Tallwood is equipped with at least three networked IBM-compatible computers. In addition, our Computer Resource Center (CRC) has 29 student stations and well as a teacher/multimedia projection station. Each computer is equipped with Internet access through the school division local area network (LAN). Every class from Grades K-4 has a scheduled biweekly 40-minute lab time. Fifth graders visit the CRC for a 40 minutes lesson on a weekly basis. Teachers may also sign their classes up for additional "OPEN" lab times.

This year we have added new two large pieces of hardware for classroom use. The first is a Dell wirelss laptop cart which houses twenty wireless laptops. This cart comes with a network printer. This is an exciting way for teachers to work with a large number of students without having to go to the CRC. The other piece of hardware is a cart of thirty portable keyboards known as AlphaSmart® 3000 Keyboards. The keyboards are housed in a rolling cart with an infared printer. Student can write various word processing activities on the keyboards and beam their information into a printer or a computer. Teachers can check each of these carts out as a unit and use it in their classrooms to integrate technology while teaching and extending subject area skills.
